Getting Started: Essential Gear for Lorcana Players

Are you new to the world of Lorcana? Welcome to the exciting world of Lorcana, the collectible card game that has taken the gaming community by storm! If you're starting, it can be overwhelming to figure out what gear is needed to get started with, but don't worry! We're here to help. In this article, we'll guide you through the essential gear you need as a new Lorcana player, so you can start your journey with confidence and get the most out of your experience.

Protective Sleeves

The most common form of card protection is a protective sleeve. These clear plastic sleeves slip over each card to protect them from scratches, dirt, and moisture. There are two brands we use a lot Dragonshield and Ultimate Guard Katana Sleeves. We have ordered several boxes of Red Katana sleeves as they are my favorite color, but Ultra Pro provides a wide variety of colors for your satisfaction. Lastly, we would like to talk about perfect-fit sleeves. When double-sleeving decks, a perfect sleeve is perfect before using your primary sleeve. We also like using perfect-fit sleeves when opening new products like the upcoming set, Outsiders.

Extra Protection

Top Loaders or Mini Snap Card Holders are our preferred items for those who want extra card protection. Should you use one or the other? It depends on you, but we like using both depending on the use case. We use the Mini Snap Card Holders for Legendary equipment, Characters, and weapons of the active playing deck. We also use the Mini Snap Card Holders to very rare cards that are not going to be traded or in a deck. The Mini Snap Card Holders also fit perfectly in our deck box.

Deck Boxes

When going to events we like using Double Deck Boxes. The top compartment houses the main deck, plus the sideboard. Middle compartment houses tokens and dice. The bottom compartment houses all the mini snap holders for equipment/characters. Several double-deck boxes are available, but we like the Card Guardian product from Amazon.

Bulk/Binders

When it comes to the storage of bulk cards, the BCW Monster Storage Box is the best. The BCW Monster storage box can hold 3200 cards with four rows of storage.

Rares and above go into my binders! We have three binders, one for the cards we are keeping that will be used for decks, the second binder for the cards we are going to trade, and the third binder is for cards that we will be keeping for collecting only.

Travel

Traveling to top-tier events such as The Pro-Tour and Worlds where flying is required having a good reliable backpack is essential. The Ultimate Guard backpack is our preferred option when traveling, but the hefty price tag of $200 will dissuade many people. The Quiver is a nice carrying case for regional travel to separate multiple decks into a single case. Of course, your standard school backpack always works.

We have collected links to each of the products below. We highly encourage Lorcana players to purchase any of the products below from their local LGS as they support the store directly which allows them to host all the amazing Lorcana events. If an LGS does not carry the products below then Amazon Prime is clutch when you need to order any of the items below. If you are a student, Amazon has a promotion where you can get 50% off for the first 6 months, use this link to see if you qualify. You can also purchase some of the items directly from BCW Supplies, use coupon code YFC at checkout to get a 10% discount or use the following link.

In conclusion, getting started with Lorcana as a new player can seem daunting, but it doesn't have to be. With the right gear and tools, you can quickly jump into the game and have a blast.
